BOLD FOOD DEBUTS FIRST DOMESTIC TOUR OF 2017: AUSTIN, TEXAS

Weekend tour to Austin explores everything from historic BBQ pits and food trucks, to fine dining and craftsman knives

Los Altos, Calif. –  February 9, 2017 – Bold Food, offering curated tours of the world’s top culinary destinations, announces its first domestic travel destination of 2017: An action-packed culinary tour of Austin, Texas. On this curated weekend trip, guests have an opportunity to see and taste everything that makes Austin an epicurean delight, as well as what keeps it proudly weird.Austin skyline at sunset

Led by seasoned traveler and culinary educator Muffie Fulton, this intimate, four-day experience includes everything from an epic tour of local and regional barbeque pits, to choreographed meals at Austin’s top restaurants. The trip will be offered April 20-23, 2017, and is available for booking up to 12 guests.

“I chose Austin because it has a really fun and distinctive food scene,” said Fulton, company founder and intrepid traveler. “There’s so much going on in Austin that it can be a little overwhelming, but I take all of the guesswork out of the trip by researching the best restaurants, the best food trucks and the best BBQ. All you need to do is to bring a Texas-sized appetite.”

The itinerary for the Bold Foods Austin Trip follows:

Day 1: Check in at the Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel, located in the heart of Austin, and enjoy dinner and craft brews at East Side King at Liberty—a food truck from Top Chef winner Paul Qui that’s permanently located behind Liberty bar.

Day 2: Taste a selection of foods from the very best of Austin’s more than 700 food trucks; learn how Travis Weige crafts his coveted knives by hand at Weige Knives; savor a special family-style meal with wine pairings created by chefs Michael Fojtasek and Grae Nonas at Olamaie; and head to a classic Austin bar to hear live music.

Day 3: Go on an epic barbeque adventure to learn about and taste the differences between old-style and new-style barbeque; explore quirky downtown Austin; and dine on a multi-course menu with wine pairings at Chef Bryce Gilmore’s acclaimed Barley Swine restaurant.

Day 4: Sample tacos at four of Austin’s best taco spots for breakfast and lunch, with shopping breaks at some of Austin’s distinctively weird and creative storefronts.

The Austin Tour costs $2,199 per person, based on double occupancy, and includes all overnight accommodations, meals and wine pairings, and activities and outings ($1,599 per person for locals who don’t need a hotel room). Airfare to and from Austin is not included.

Bold Food’s next international tour will be in Lima, Peru, July 19-23, 2017. This five-day food odyssey will include a ceviche cooking lesson and fruit tasting in Barranco, a market tour of the Magdalena district, a 14-course private dinner at Osso Kitchen Table in Lima, and museum and archaeological tours.
