Eat Drink SF is an event that we look forward to every year. Touted as San Francisco’s premier annual food, wine, and spirits festival that celebrates the Bay Area’s world-class chefs and restaurants, Eat Drink SF weekend 2017 certainly did not disappoint. It was great to see so many new restaurants and to see some of our clients represented, such as Half Moon Bay Brewing Company and Dumpling Time. Check out our favorite bites from the weekend.

The plate from Espetus wasn’t just a bite – it was a mini-dinner, and definitely my Eat Drink SF standout. They gave a taste of their delicious, Brazilian cuisine with Top Sirloin, Chicken Breast Wrapped in Bacon, Pork Loin with Parmesan Cheese, Pork Sausage, and White Rice with Brazillian Vinaigrette and Toasted Yucca Flour. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection (yes, I did wait in line for about 5 minutes to get a fresh plate because it looked that good). Each piece was a total standout. I almost wanted to leave and head straight to the restaurant for some more!

On Friday evening my favorite dish of the restaurants I tried was the House Made Sausage with Everything Chips and Cheese Fondue from Sauce. It was so good we went back for seconds, and it paired perfectly with some of the Kölsch from the nearby craft beer tap station.
My favorite from Saturday afternoon was the Burnt Banana and Ginger Milkshake Donut from Vive La Tarte. I don’t usually like banana-flavored anything, other than actual bananas (and even then they can’t be that ripe). However, I hadn’t had anything like this burnt banana ginger combination. It was heavenly – especially stuffed into a sugar coated donut! Donuts are basically my favorite food group (yes, food group), so Vive La Tarte had me at hello.

I went to Thursday’s Taco Knockdown and my favorite was Mezcalito chef Matt d’Ambrosi’s Quail Taco with Peach Salsa. I loved the sweetness of the salsa combined with the savory meat. While it was hard to decide on a favorite because there was such a variety, I could have eaten this one again and again. My runners up: Aina‘s 5-spice Kalua pig and Palm House‘s Cubano taco, which were delicious and had surprising flavor combinations. Even though I don’t think it qualified as a taco, Salt & Straw’s Masa waffle cone with roasted cumin ice cream was a beautiful and much-appreciated sweet ending to the whole affair.

I tried about a dozen different tacos at Thursday’s Taco Knockdown and the one that I am still craving is the Wild Boar Taco from Tacolicious. It was simply delicious, and somehow both inventive and nostalgic. Nothing compared and I can’t wait to go grab another one… or 12.
